Headed up to Guenella Pass this week to look for Ptarmigans. The road was closed a few miles from the summit but I came prepared and enjoyed the hike. Usually the wind at this elevation plummets temperatures but I lucked out with temps hovering in the 30's and no biting wind chill at all, a beautiful day! The Ptarmigans remained elusive but clear skies made for stunning views of the surrounding mountains and peaks
This panorama was taken near the Guenella Pass trailhead. The trail accesses the peaks seen here as well as Summit Lake and Mt. Evans. A ridge point of Mt. Evans is barely visible in this photo, behind the Sawtooth and slightly to the left.
